The Doobie Brothers Huntsville Concert reviews
Meat Puppets need praises sung
The Meat Puppets, in personnel and style, were still developing as a band along with The Pixies playing at the point where Nirvana. The first song on "Unplugged is a Meat Puppets song. Hammered out by a power-house trio, it was great to see the original hard driving version of that song - Exactly the Meat Puppet's description Saturday night. Sometimes, it was hard to distinguish the bass line with the bass guitar that drumming locked in so tightly. Great Playing. The sound suited their performance in a way that was less than clear. I wonder what they would have sounded like with the slick The Doobie Brothers sound system and production.
The opening act delivered a highly entertaining forty-some minutes that never felt that they were playing as difficult material as The Doobie Brothers. However, they were a highly polished act. The Doobie Brothers exploded with superior sound, volume, and video. They played all the crowd pleasers.
